This week, we have been discussing feelings and have been reading the book 'The Way I Feel' by Janin Cain. Students used the author/illustrator's ideas to create some interesting drawings which show different feelings. 

Students are also developing vocabulary to describe more complex emotions such as, frustration, disappointment, excitement, etc.  In the classroom, we are discussing and reinforcing appropriate ways of dealing with these feelings, such as, guiding each student to make good choices, model positive behaviours and think about solutions for problems.

Parent teacher conferences will take place next week on Thursday September 18 (4:15-8pm) and Friday September 19 (8am -12:30). It is very important for us to meet with all parents/guardians to discuss learning goals and plans to move learning forward for the year.

This week, we have our first class in the Learning Commons ) At this time, (Monday - Mr. Beattie & Thursday - Ms. Toor)  Mrs. Reimer will read a new book to the students followed by a book exchange.

As well, whenever your child returns a book to school, a new one may be chosen on that day. This is a great opportunity for your child to increase their literacy skills, as well as, learn how to be responsible for bringing things to and from school.

We are fortunate to have many wonderful books which can be shared with your family and support the learning of our Grade 1 & 2  students. Please try to take advantage of this service on a daily basis. Thank you

Thank you to those who have return the school forms that were sent home on the first day of school. If you have not done so already, please return these forms as soon as possible.
