Curling!
Today we had the wonderful opportunity to begin our curling unit with Coach Cowboy! Coach Cowboy taught us about the different tools used in the game. Here are some of the tools we used.

Please ask your child:
What is the broom used for?
What do we do with the rocks?
What is the house and where is the button?
How do you score a point in Curling? How do you score two points?

Ms. Rubio also showed us some fun moves that we can use to stretch out our muscles and bodies throughout the day. Ask your child to show you what 'toast', 'eggs', 'bacon' and the 'table' looks like!
Here are some hints:

Tuesday November 18

We are continuing to explore our sense of touch. We performed an experiment to help us appreciate how much we rely on our sense of touch to tell us about our surroundings. We wore a thick winter mitt on one hand and placed it in a bag. While our hand was in the bag we tried to use our sense of touch to guess the items in the bag. It was very hard! As a second part of the experiment we took off the mitt and used our hand to guess the items that were hidden in the bag. This was a little easier but still quit a challenge for many of us.

Reminder: Friday November 21 is a PD day and the students do not have school.

Our students have been studying 'Senses' and have read the book, What Do You Do With a Tail Like This?  This interactive book explores the many amazing things that animals can do with their ears, eyes, mouths, noses, feet and tails.

Some student comments were
" I liked the long tongue that the anteater used for catching termites."
" The horned toad that could shot blood out of its eyes was amazing.

You can assess the story by clicking on the above book cover.
