Inline skating!
Today was our last day inline skating. Students enjoyed the week learning how to skate, stop safely, and played some games! Some students were able to practice skating backwards as well!

Here is a video of Ms. Toor's class skating!

Now that students have had the whole week to skate, please have them reflect on the following questions.

If I feel like I'm going to fall down I touch my....

When I want to try to skate I put my feet in what shape?

When I want to stay in one place I put my feet in what shape?

    What goes on first?

    What is a drop stop?

My favourite thing about skating was...

The hardest part about skating is...

We are very thankful for this opportunity to skate and can't wait to do it again next year! Thanks Jenna!!

Enjoy these pictures of us skating throughout the week!

In social studies we have been reading traditional, modern and informational stories to help us develop a greater  understanding of indigenous cultures. Many of the stories are about animals with special abilities. These are some of the stories we read this week. Ask me what the stories are about.

During in line skating we played Red Light Green and gained more confidence in our skating skills. We always remember our safety rules!

We had a great first day of in-line skating!

Students listened carefully to Jenna, our Alien in-line instructor.
In this photo, she is providing directions for putting on and taking off all of the equipment.

Rule # 1
Helmets are first piece of equipment to put on
and last piece of equipment to take off

Rule # 2
No crashing,
No bashing,
No smashing

Today students practiced a quick way of getting -up and skating forward.
If you have a helmet at home, you are encouraged to bring it to school for this week of skating.

The  delicious breakfast on Friday was a great start to March Nutrition Month
Our meals were served by the farmers and growers of Alberta who produced all of the food.

This week we will continue to discuss nutritious snacks and foods and find out more about
'where our food comes from.'

The book 'How Did That Get in My Lunchbox'
helps to explain the processing of our food before it gets to the store.

Ask your child, what they think is a healthy, nutritious snack.
