The May news letter went home with students today.
The students in grades 1/2 are looking forward to our field trip to the zoo on May 11. In preparation for our trip, we have been learning about penguins through both fiction and non fiction books. Today the students read the book the Emperor's Egg by Martin Jenkins. This is a fiction book which provides the reader with many interesting facts. Did you know that there are 17 species of penguins and that the Emperor penguin is the largest of them all? Please return all field trip permission forms to school by May 6th.
Thank you to Ms. Toor who found two wonderful web cams which allows the students to observe penguins up close.
The Montrey Bay Aquarium has a web cam which allows you to view their penguin display.
If you log on to the follow address at either 11:30 am or at 4:00 pm you and your child can enjoy watching the zoo keepers feed the penguins. The keeper also provides an informative presentation about the penguins.http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/animals-and-experiences/live-web-cams/splash-zone-penguin-camhttp://www.montereybayaquarium.org/animals-and-experiences/live-web-cams/splash-zone-penguin-cam
