This week, we have been learning all about the number 50 and discussing Vista Heights 50th anniversary. This afternoon, we had he culminating event of a whole school assembly. Our students had the opportunity to sing an original song and accompany it with percussion instruments. Wonderful work Grade One & Two students!

Today, we read 'The Thankful Book' which is written and illustrated by Todd Parr.

In the text, he shares, from a child's point of view, a list of things that he is thankful for. Students used his sentence frame, "I am thankful for ..... " to brainstorm their personal list.

We wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Vista Height families.

Please enjoy the copy of Saad's writing.

On this long weekend, don't forget to log into Raz Kids
and read a few more exciting stories at your reading level.

Who Am I at Vista Heights?
Students have been learning more about our community of Vista Heights. Many students attend the daycare, live near or have visited the fire hall, and live in our beautiful community of Vista Heights. Many students play at the parks and fields, and have even visited the Mac's convenience store in our community. Students thought about their place in Vista Heights and used water colours and fine tip markers to create their piece of this quilt. Each picture represents who the students are in our community of Vista Heights!

Explore our community using google maps!

What does the number 50 look like?
In preparation for the 50th anniversary of Vista Heights School, students have been learning how to count to 50 and group them accordingly. We learned that we can group them by 2's, 5's and the easiest way we found was 10! Please ask your child to show you how they can count to 50's by 10's.
Can you think of 50 things to do in the fall/autumn?
We also learned a song today that we are going to sing at the assembly: Please have your child sing it to you!
