We had a great week at the pool !

Today was the last day of swimming and we had a wonderful time. This week we learned many new swimming skills and we also learned about water safety.

Thank you to all our fabulous volunteers who came to the pool each day to help out!

We learned new skills and had a lot of fun.

We had fun with our friends.

Tomorrow is the last day of swimming!
Don't forget to wear your swim suit, bring a towel and an extra pair of underwear!

Sorry for the late update! Please click the link below for the January newsletter.

Please note the remaining important dates:
January 29 report cards will go home
January 30th there is no school due to PD Day

Please take a moment to review this excerpt from the newsletter:
Our students will receive the first written report card for this school year, at the end of this month. The written report card is a summary of learning. It is not averaging marks from September to January. The written report card describes each student’s learning at this one point of the school year. We believe there will be no surprises for students or parents when they receive the report card because students have been meaningfully involved in the assessment process. Also, during the December learning conferences, work samples were shared along with current learning goals. The next scheduled learning conferences will be held on March 19th and 20th. Please remember you can contact teachers at any time to set-up a meeting to discuss your child’s learning. Working together we can move learning forward for every student.

A message from School Council
We need more volunteers to work the Casino on February 6th & 7th! Please contact the school and we will pass on further information and connect you with Mr. Hande, School Council - casino coordinator. Funds raised are used to provide learning opportunities that enrich our schools’ curriculum.

Swimming Update

Today students did an evaluation during their swimming lesson as a check in to see what skills they have mastered and which ones they need more time with! Our instructors have been teaching and evaluating as they go to ensure students are on the right path for success!

The students are getting use to the routine of swimming and did a quicker job getting ready today. Please remind your child about their responsibility during this time - get in, get changed as quickly as you can, go meet the teachers outside.

Please have your child reflect on the following questions:
What is the easiest part of the swimming trip?
What is the most challenging part of the swimming trip?
What can you do to be more successful in the last two days of swimming? (come up with a plan!)

Thank you again to all of our wonderful volunteers. Without your support we would not be able to participate in such programs. Thank you for so being generous with your time!

Little Green Thumbs update!
Last week we planted our seeds in the peat pucks and Mr. Beattie set up the heat lamp. We put on the humidity dome and things have been changing!

Please have your child make a prediction about what will happen next!

Swimming reminder for this week!

We have a great first day in the pool!

Please remember to wear your swim suit under your clothes to save time at the pool.
Sometimes clothes get wet. Please bring an extra pair of underwear in your bag.

Things to pack and bring:

1. swim suit
2. towel
3. plastic bag to pack the wet clothes
4. underwear (if you wear your swim suit to school)
5. swimming cap & goggles (optional)

Please remind your child that this is a learning opportunity for them to independently change their clothes and be responsible for their looking after their belongings

Please ask your child what they had learned in their swimming group?

Last week, our students finished planting their tiny seeds for transplanting.
Students recounted their experience in their journal using some procedural writing.
